July Fourth

One of our contributions was the pasta sauce - Yoo Mee did the majority of the work. The recipe is Alton Brown's pantry friendly tomato sauce. I haven't bought tomato-based pasta sauce, not even once, since I started making this.

This year, July Fourth was a summer meal on a deck in Park Slope, surrounded by green plants, friendly cats, a setting sun, and some mojitos in hand.

I bet you thought I stopped wearing t-shirts.

Scallops and home-pickled mackerel, courtesy the host. Note the Death Star-sized ball of real grated wasabi on the left. Even though we had pasta, I was secretly wishing a bowl of warm sushi rice would appear.

Dessert - sort of my contribution - French toast, recipe courtesy... you guessed it. Wow, did I get the evil eye for bringing over Redi-Whip. Since then I've been making my own whipped cream.
