Fall is for cider and cider donuts

Mmm, donut.

One of the things I look forward to in fall is a series of fundraising sales by a local elementary school. They team up with an upstate orchard and sell a variety of apple products, including hot and cold (unpasteurized) ciders and several types of cider donuts.

They don't really tell you this, but the donuts must be purchased with cider, hot or cold. The donuts are a bit on the dry side, and fairly dense. The sugar crystals give some sweetness, but you're really missing something. That something is the matching flavor of cider, mixing and releasing the flavors within. The satisfying crunch of the sugar makes this a tasty morning start. Click on the picture above for a zoom.

The bowl of cherries entry was the inspiration for this shot, though it did not come out as well as I wanted. I wish I either had a higher megapixel count or a better zoom lens. I knew it was a limitation when I got my S110, so those are the breaks.
