Fall nights

I love fall. It's my favorite season.

The first thing I noticed about being out of the city was the intense racket. Of crickets, that is. I had a lousy day at work, but I appreciate being able to walk home. Not just because it's environmentally friendly (compared to driving), but on a clear, cool night like this it's the perfect way to destress. I love the smell of fall -- hopefully the elementary school bake sales with apple-y goods from local farms will start up soon. Apple donuts and apple cider is good eats.

Admittedly, cracking open the Jepson brandy sampler Blaine got me about 2 years ago helped, too.

Dessert at Gotham Bar and Grill

This is a recent addition to their dessert menu - their version of s'mores. The chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmellows are all present, with a small scoop of what I believe was ginger ice cream and generous portions of melted chocolate for dipping. Not your usual campfire fare. Their excellent creme brulee and a plate of petite fours is in the background.

Takashi Murakami preview

Soo and I stopped by the Takashi Murakami exhibit in Rockefeller Center, which just opened. I was expecting more of a "forest" based on the first description I read, but the installation certainly had his trademark blend of playful and slightly frightening. More pictures to come.
